The plot revolves around a medical student who is conducting some bizarre experiments on the re-animation of dead tissue and soon involves his roommate and his girlfriend. With a suspicious past from Europe where he did similar regenerative experiments for a scientist who died under mysterious circumstances he continues his research in the States starting them off by experimenting on a dead cat. This incident soon sparks a series of somewhat predictable results evolving around the hospital morgue.

 

As the violence and gore escalate so does the black humor of this movie which fuels a lot of memorable scenes running quick paced 86 minutes.

 

Having seen a ton of zombie and horror movies in general one of the biggest qualities of re-animator is its uniqueness in the genre and though I read some critique of the music being a rip off of the Psycho score it really does stand out overall from being “just another low budget 80’s horror production”.

 

So if you are looking for a classic horror movie with talking decapitated heads and a zombie like regeneration theme not to mention diabolical experiments of a crazy scientist – Re-Animator is definitely a movie to watch.
