Answers
Can I improve my constitution by training?
No constitution can unlike other skills not be improved by training.
Can you use vehicles in the game?
No currently you can not use vehicles to travel. We are still considering this game feature but it won't be anytime soon ....at least not for now. If you feel that it's a must have you can always address it at the forum and we might change priorities.
What happens if I drop an item?
There is currently no way of trading items with other players. This is simply due to its easily abused nature of sharing or dropping items for others to use. Use the trading stations to buy or sell weapons and equipment.
Can I play several characters?
You are only allowed to have
one user account
on the game server. By purchasing premium membership just once though you will be able to play 4 characters permanently. These characters are allowed to
collaborate
including staying in same location, sharing safehouses and being in the same clan etc.
How do I earn XP?
You earn XP from doing various actions. The most efficient way to earn XP is completing missions and defeating enemies, but responding to game events, identifying new locations and aiding the safehouses by f.x. strengthening barricades etc. will also earn you some XP.
How can I heal my character?
Your character restores 1 HP every ½ hour. You can also eat or use certain items to regain health quicker.
How do I get money in the game?
Scavenging the streets for stuff is an easy way to make some money. You won't get paid much for the free stuff lying around but food can always be sold at a profit. Killing some zombie classes (such as zombies in suits) and completing mission can also be profitable and there are a few locations where you can work to earn money while your are offline. During work you won't be able to do anything else. If you cancel working you will lose 75% of your income.
Why do I get randomly attacked by zombies?
The city is infested with tons of zombies hence you are going to be jumped by one once and a while even though you try to avoid them. The further you travel the greater the chance of being attacked.Your "smarts" skill help reduce your chance of being random attacked.
Why does the big zombie hordes always get me?
Don't engage them. Run away. Only engage in combat you know you can win. The point is to survive. Watch out for hordes and groups which have several attacks once engaged in close combat. And eat food to heal and rest to regain full health.
How do I get a mission?
Some locations have non-playable characters who offer you missions. These locations are hidden all over the map but college campus on map 1 is a good place to start. Missions are a fast way to level up earning XP and receiving money rewards and maybe even items.
How can I improve my skills?
You get free skillpoints when you gain a level. You can assign these to any skill you chose to "upgrade it". Simply view your character sheet (click the picture of your avatar) to use the skillpoints. There are also several locations where you can train your skills besides the college campus. F.x. smarts can be trained at the Mercy Hospital Library (47/7) but there several different training locations scattered around the map which complement each skill available.
How does combat work?
Combat takes place over several rounds stating with some distance between two groups of combatants. You can either choose to advance or shoot if you are at ranged combat. Notice that combat is often initiated at a distance further than the range of most smaller guns. The fight ends when one side decides to flee because they have taken too much damage or they are simply killed. You can equip your characters with a huge range of weapons before combat, weapons that can be customized to do more damage, have better range or more ammunition.
How can I change my email, password and profile settings?
You can change your email and password by going to your account settings available in the top menu. You can't change your charactername once created.
Can I change my username and charactername?
No due to ranking lists, clans and multiplayer gameplay you can't change user and characternames.
Are multiple accounts forbidden?
You are only allowed to have one account on the game server. Having several accounts may result in IP ban and account deletion. The reason why multiple accounts are not allowed is due to game exploits and makes us unable to launch new co-op features, trading and other elements which will be sources to exploits when people have more than 1 account. Another thing besides violation of game rules, is that it's simply not nice as the strain from lots of people playing multiple accounts cause the server to be overloaded and unresponsive not to mention gives us bandwidth costs that would make us unable to offer it as free-to-play.
How do I get the recruit a friend bonus?
You receive the 3000 xp reward once your friend have signed up and reached level 5 at which point you can claim it.
How can I find my username when I use Facebook to logon?
If you have created an account using Facebook your username will the same as your Facebook ID. You can use this instead of Facebook if you prefer and the below screenshot explain how you it.
Is there a limit on how much you can increase the stats by training?
No. There is currently no restriction to how much you can increase your stats by training.
Can you build your own safehouses?
Yes. Please refer to the safehouse guide for more tips and info.
Will you have player vs. player (pvp) gameplay?
Yes. PvP gameplay is planned however we want a game which primarily focuses on co-op and not player killing. We are planning to implement the option to play as zombie too, but the gameplay will be very limited. There might also be the ability to challenge others players but game design it not final yet.
Can special locations with quests, shops etc. be overrun be zombies?
Yes. All locations can be overrun. When a location is overrun NPCs will evacuate the building and all features will be disabled.
How can I regain Stamina (SP)?
Stamina regenerates over time. 1 SP every 3rd minute. However you can also eat certain items to regain stamina such as pills, energy bars and drinks. View the item to check how much you can regain.Premium accounts have a 50% faster SP regeneration time. Check out our post for more info on how it works:
http://blog.zombiepandemic.com/Blog/tabid/59/EntryId/137/What-is-the-difference-in-SP-for-premium-vs-non-premium-users.aspx
Can I have multiple accounts and play several characters?
Only one user account is allowed pr. game server (multiple accounts are however allowed on test.zombiepandemic.com).Multiple accounts is the main source of cheating in the game which is why its not allowed and may lead to banning. The game database can log player locations, IPs and other account behavior
to counter cheating. If you like the game however and want to play more than one character you can purchase a premium account which allows you to play up to 4 characters. These characters can work together as you say fit, that is stay in the same safehouse, same location, be in the same clan etc.
Does training stack (does it "save" my progress if I do something else)?
Yes. For instance if you train agility for five hours, then train Strength for ten hours, then go back to agility again - it will continue with the progress you already made.
Where can I find locations?
Part of the gameplay is designed so you have to discover the locations yourself and they are scattered all over the 3 maps of the city. However the wiki has an updated map with all locations available including coordinates of shops and missions if needed.
Where do you go to get technical training?
Check out the stadium location at 21/4. They have a workbench where you can train mechanical. You can also construct a workbench in your safehouse.
What happens if I drop an item?
Dropping an item from your inventory will remove it from the game and thus can't be picked up by other players. Once you drop the item it's gone.
Does hit points (HP) regenerate?
Hit points (HP) indicate your current health and regenerate 1 HP every ½ hour. You can also regain health by eating items and receiving medical attention.
Should I report insulting chat behavior, user names or tagging?
Yes. Please do so using the beta feedback button or private messaging a moderator. And we will look into it.
Can I become a moderator?
We currently have the positions full but if you would like to be a moderator feel free to e-mail us and we will sign you on a list of potential future moderators. We pick moderators based on community activity, maturity, contributions to the game, role model chat behavior
and other criterias together with the current mod team.
What is the difference between skills and perks?
Zombie Pandemic features both perks and skills. A perk is small "bonus" that can enable some new functionality, options or improve your skills permanently with a preset amount like +10 to Marksmanship. A skill is a stat like "Marksmanship" and "Close Combat" and is represented by a number that reflects how good you are at that particular thing. A perk could have nothing to do with skills at all. Imagine if you could get pinned inside a group of zombies and be unable to run but if you have the "Crowd Surfer" perk you could escape anyway.
Why can't I heal on all locations?
You can only treat your wounds on safe locations. Make sure to get to safety findind a barricaded building or safehouse if you are low on health.
I have an idea for a new feature for the game – what should I do?
A good way to suggest new features is to post a topic in the forum to allow other players to comment. They might have some input to make your original even better and if a lot of people like the idea chances are that so will the dev team. When the topic has been discussed thoroughly – write an updated and precise description your idea based on the forum feedback. Then e-mail us at betatester@pixelpandemic.net and include a URL in the brief.
How can I support the project?
Invite your friends, link to us, donate a few a dollars by purchasing credits or premum, submit bugs and ideas for improved gameplay. You can also vote for the game as well as promote it on forums. gamelisting and blogs etc. and text
descriptions

Will you have NPC dialogue interaction?
We are planning to extend quests and special locations with the ability to interact in dialogue with NPC thus offering options to get useful info, build a more detailed storyline and deploy a more "adventure" style.
How do I improve my smarts?
Smarts can be improved studying which you can at several places. Mercy Hospital Library (47/7) is one option.
Can I purchase and sell items?
You can purchase and sell items, weapon, ammo and armor at the shops located around the city. Selling items which are commonly found around city won't make you much profit while the demand for items such as food and ammo is high.
How can I play several characters using same account?
By purchasing premium membership just once you will be able to create and play up to 4 characters using the same account. This is a permanent bonus which is enabled even after it expires. To select which character to play simply click your character name in the upper left corner next to the Level, $ and XP info.
I have problems using Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera or browsing from my phone
During the beta stage we will only optimize the game for Firefox 3.5+ and Chrome. Most browsers work perfectly too but we recommend using these. Once all basic game features are done. We will start optimizing for other browsers as well.
How much stamina does combat cost?
* Each attack costs 1 stamina point (SP).* Charging costs 1 SP and will advance you into close range and engage you in close combat.* Running away costs 3 SP but you only have 50% chance of escaping successfully
in ranged stance and 30% chance when engaged in close combat. However these percentages can be improved by your agility.* Use your SP carefully. Fatigue can be deadly while engaged in combat as skills will reduced significantly when you have negative SP.
What are Stamina points (SP)?
Stamina points (SP) indicates how many turns or actions you have in the game. You use stamina points for all actions such as travel, engaging in combat etc. Stamina regenerates continuously. When Stamina drops below 0 you are fatigued, this means all skill tests will have a penalty equal to how negative you Stamina is. Stamina regenerates at 1 point every third minute equaling
a total of 480 points pr. day.
How do I earn XP?
You earn XP from doing various actions. The most efficient way to earn XP is completing quests and defeating enemies, but responding to game events, identifying new locations and aiding the safehouses by f.x. strengthening barricades etc. will also earn you some XP.
Can my character improve his/her skills by training?
Yes. Your character can train to improve his or her skills. For every 10 hours realtime training you accumulate you gain another skillpoint. During training you won't be able to do anything else. If you cancel the training you can always continue from where you left of.
How do I submit feedback? (such as an error, updated text description or a suggestion to new features)
The feedback form can be accessed simply clicking the ingame yellow beta button. When you submit an issue using the feedback form an e-mail is sent directly to the dev team. We go through all e-mails systematically and all bugs/features which are implemented are credited with the betatesters name in the changelog.
How do I heal my character?
Your character restores 1 HP every ½ hour. You can also eat or use certain items to regain health quicker.
Which gun should I choose (what the advantages and disadvantages of the different types)
Shotguns are awesome in short ranged combat, offering high damage, high chance of hitting your opponent and high chances of critical hits. However the accuracy quickly drops off making shotguns inefficient at medium distances and worthless at long ranges.Handguns are light, cheap and highly accurate in close encounters below 25 yards. The cost of the ammo is often low and chances of critical headshots in short range combat are high. However accuracy drops off quickly at longer ranges.SMGs are lighter than rifles and utilizing burst fire they can inflict a lot of damage using mostly 9mm ammo. Accuracy however drops quickly at medium ranges, though they are often more precise than pistols and shotguns. They are also infective at long rangeAssault rifles are more precise than SMGs and similarly offer burst shots, however, they provide higher damage and are efficient at long ranges.LMGs are similar to assault rifles, but not as precise and often much heavier, however, they also offer a much higher ammo capacity and some models offer a higher burst value.Rifles are more precise than assault rifles yet come at much cheaper price, but are often restricted to a single shot mode and have a small magazine size.Sniper rifles are awesome at medium and long range with a high accuracy and chance of inflicting critical headshots, but are expensive, have a low ammo capacity and often use expensive caliber ammo.
What are exclusive items?
Exclusive items are items which can only be purchased for real money or looted (though extremely rare to find).
Can I loot the "exclusive" items from the shop or do I need to purchase them
Some special items are "exclusive" meaning you can only purchase them for real money but some of them can also be scavenged though extremely rare to find.
Can I move my character from one server to another?
No. Gameworlds and characters are seperate due to potential exploits and different server start points but you are welcome to start a new character on a new server if you like.
Are the payments recurrent or do I need to manually renew?
You have to renew manually. We don't charge recurring.
What happens to my 4 premium characters and premium items when my premium membership expires?
All your characters are permanently available to you once you purchase premium. When your premium membership expires you can still use all of you.
Is there a official IRC channel for fans of the zombie pandemic can chat on while not playing the game?
We dont have any official IRC channel, however the game offers a chat which is available when you have logged onto the game and there is also an official forum where you are welcome to share your thoughts about the game.
About the Game Concept
What are MMO and MMORPG?
A massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of computer role-playing games (CRPGs) in which a large number of players interact with one another in a virtual world. A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMOG or simply MMO) is a video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously while not necessarily a role playing game.
Exactly what genre is this game?
We use the official term PBBG (persistent browser based game
www.pbbg.org
)
which means that it's a game you play over a long duration - that is months maybe even years besides being played in a browser. It's a MMO as it's a massively multi-player game offering interaction with thousands of other players in one huge game world. It's also an RPG in the means that use familiar role playing game elements as firstly take the role of the character in the game universe and the games offers RPG styled combat mode and a skill/attribute system in which you can grow you character earning experience points.
Is this game similar to Urbandead.com and Dead Rising?
We are fans of several of the zombie games currently available including titles such as Urban Dead and Capcoms "Dead Rising". Zombie Pandemic however is a totally independent and distinctive game featuring features and a rich storyline with a complex map system and an evolved combat system.
Does the game feature vampires and werewolves?
No the game involves around a "classic" zombie universe in a virus outbreak scenario. It has some apocalyptic theme to it as the epidemic turns into a pandemic and thus an "end of days" scenario.
You write somewhere that Zombie Pandemic is a MMORPG. Is it similar to World of Warcraft and Warhammer?
It's a MMORPG in the sense that it's a multiplayer online role-playing game but being a browser and text based game it will not feature 3D graphics or comprehensive soundtracks. We believe in the core gameplay. Not the triple AAA Hollywood way of representing it.
How many items and scavenging containers are there in the game?
We currently have 150 different scavenging containers including everything from store counters, lockers, to ammo crates and wall safes. We also have about 600 different items including clothes, weapons and aid items.
How many map tiles does the game have?
We currently have 3 ground level maps and about 9000 tiles to explore in Zombie Pandemic. There are also 3 sewer and 3 underground maps.
When is feature X going to be released?
The game is an indie project so we have a policy of not providing specific dates nor estimates on features. We do however announce upcoming features shortly before launching them on the blog or in the forum.
I did an offer on SponsorPay or Superrewards and are still waiting for the credits to show up?
Sponsorpay and Superrewards are a 3rd part systems and separate companies. Thus we have no control of their offers or process besides facilitating their offers and have only enabled these for ZP players for them to earn free credits in case they don't want to or can afford to pay with creditcard.
That also means that only they can help you if an offer doesn't work:
http://www.sponsorpay.com/
users/support/
http://superrewards.com/
As written in the terms & conditions they are often a bit slow and takes up to 48 hours before the credits actually show up though. So best bet is finding the receipts for the completed surveys and then contacting their support if you did everything they requested you to do.
I have a player account on both the test server and www. What happens if I delete my account?
If you delete your account all your characters on all servers will be deleted. If you have characters on both the www and test servers, then deleting your account on either server will caused all data on the other server to be deleted as well.
