I have been sitting on the fence for whether to buy the PKM or the M95.

The M95 has great range and damage per bullet.

Close Combat: No Sell Value: $16400 Damage: 22 - 30
    Range: 150 Weight: 22 Ammo usage: 1
Magazine size: 5 Ammo type: 50cal Shop price: $28500
Required Level: 3 Burst Accuracy Penalty: -30%
Description: Originally planned for use against light armored vehicles, the military discovered that rifle makes perfectly acceptable large-sized holes in people too. Uses .50 Cal ammunition.

The PKM has also great range and damage but uses alot of ammunition.

Close Combat: No Sell Value: $14500 Damage: 15 - 20
    Range: 150 Weight: 19 Ammo usage: 5
Magazine size: 100 Ammo type: 7.62 Shop price: $18000
Required Level: 10 Burst Accuracy Penalty: -30%

Description: A general purpose machine gun designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. Forty years of heavy use within vehicles and by infantry alike proved it's reliability as a very effective 7.62x54r weapon, if also heavy.

M95 is heavier and has more damage and uses bullets more effectively making it possibly lighter to carry around because all you will need is around 50-100 bullets per day or so as apposed to the 300+ that the pkm would need. The pkm is lighter, has the same range, has a larger magazine, cheaper ammunition and overall cost. Also the PKM being for level 10 when you get it you would obviously be more skilled. I was thinking of maybe getting the m95 and use it for 4 levels until I hit 10 and then buy the PKM.

Well I would like to hear some advice on this, and also where I could buy either of them.

    Indeed, go for the PKM.

It's much more powerful than the M95, it's ammo is cheaper (you're aware that M95 grenades are $500 each, right? Within a few days it's ammo will have cost more than the gun), it's more versatile, you won't have to waste half your turns reloading.

Err i think the M95 sniper rifles shoot .50 cal bullets and they are just as expensive as other common ammo types. I agree that the PKM will be much better weapon if we have high marksmanship but still I personally love sniping

Ergh, you're right! Apologies for my last post, I was thinking of the M29 grenade launcher!

In any case, I would still go for the PKM. Thanks for pointing that out, Meowerine

Oh, the shop for PKM is Andrew's Guns at 30 20

Check out The Riflery, It's about 5 squares northeast and north, west, east, and south somewhat of the collage campus. And 56,2 is that gun shop run by that old lady. It's gun the M16 and other automatic rifles (including the AA-12), and a few semi-auto. The M82 Sniper rifle is also there, but it's not as good as the M95.

Also, the M95 isn't automatic, why would a sniper rifle be? Imagine trying to sniper with that, the gun will just fly out of your hands.

I found another shop that sells the M95: the Baseball Stadium armory at 21 04 which also sells the PSG-1, a decent sniper rifle, only inferior to the M95 imo.
What I mean is that I love sniping with the real snipe rifles. Of course the damage output of a PKM is much higher than the M95 but I will definitely buy a M95 sooner or later.

I think PKM is better couse it slays hordes of zombies very easily. My suggestion is buy an SKS rifle since its cheap (4500 i think) and has good average damage (14-19) and a clip size of 10. Then buy the PKM and use it just for slaying hordes of zombies while for other zombies use the SKS. This way you will save ammo and slay everything you find in your way... But you need to have high Marksmanship of course. I have 92 atm and i aim for 110.

Just in case you dont know there is another shop where you can buy M95, Rudy's Rifle-rama at 10053/9963, the problem is that you cant buy 50cal ammo at this shop :S. I find the barret M82 more handy since it has a 10 magazine size while the M95 has only 5.

I think when the enemies require 2 shots from the M95 to kill, then the M82 is much more handy because you don't have to reload that much. To kill very high HP enemies like hordes, the PKM is nearly perfect. I'm gonna save up some money for a M82 and test to see which one I will like more ^_^

PKM is good for in-between levels but when you get your marksmanship that high, you're going to feel regretful of the investment, come the minigun and when you feel like doing missions.

In addition, PKM doesn't handle MASSIVE hordes well (Zeds that have about 150+ so HP). Lesser Hordes I can do fine with just an SMG, or even just Zanbato them considering the current ZP setting.

As for the M95, I find the low capacity to hold rounds bars it from becoming a true MG and I see it more as a sniper rifle. The .50 cal isn't a common ammo find in scavenging either compared to 7.62 and even then, 7.62 is rarer than the 5.56 so it's more expensive as you buy more from shops.

I believe the M95 is actually a sniper rifle, not a machine gun and therefore it has high damage output for a single shot and save ammo that way. Ammo gained from scavenging never really matters for me because there is too few to loot. What I'm really wondering is comparing the usefulness of the M95 and M82.

For the PKM, at my level (25) I have already killed 5 massive and 9 huge hordes without any difficulty so I'm not very sure about its shortage.

Killing hordes with a Zanbato is cool and I love to do it too, but I need higher strength (or agility or whatever it is) to dodge zeds' attacks.(Btw, I believe some melee weapons like chainsaw should have 3-5 attacks per turn with a -30% accuracy like all automatic guns).

Well i have a SKS for everything, a zanbato for melee and a PKM for hordes. PKM works very well for me since i have high marskmanship (110+) and i almost never miss a shot so i can kill 300hp hordes really easily. This speeds up my leveling a lot so i just run around and look for hordes all the time. I agree minigun is better, of course it is the best weapon in the game for slaying hordes but the price is just too high (75000). You need to scavenge a lot to reach that money and thats a lot of days of XP lost. The PKM is not that expensive (18000) and with high marksmanship you can kill hordes very well so i find it very usefull to leveling fast at low levels. I am level 21 atm and i can kill any enemy in the game since i got the PKM at level 16 without running and attacking again.

In the M95 and barret discussion i prefer barret just couse i only kill high hp zombies and groups so i will almost never kill them in 1 shot of M95. Also i like to kill in map2 where there are more zombies so i allways fight vs 5+ enemys and i am sure i will need to reload 1 time using M95 so i dont find it very usefull.

    Hi!

Damage and price is one thing. But weight and ammo is another.
I am lvl 91 now, would be the perfect moment for a nice mini-gun, but I stick with the PKM. Even a Massive Hord of Strong Zombies with 430 HP is not a problem. Damage around 80 with one pull of the trigger.
But that is 5 bullets each time. 5 Bullets gone for every enemy. Crows, Zombie Kids, Rats... sure, you could swap to a dif. weapon, but that would mean -1 AP. With a gun that holds 100 bullets... I did the swapping in the beginning, but soon you will think: Ahhhhh.. what the heck!
But the minigun... wow... 10 Bullets... that is a little bit tooo much for crows or rats.
Not only you have to have the money, you need the strength to walk around with a couple of thousands bullets.
60.000 Dollar for 10.000 bullets! With that kind of ammo, you can walk a couple of days without the need to come
    back to restock.
At the higher levels, there is no more: Just killing the high lvl Zombies! You just kill every Zed there is!

I hope they stock up the hords in the third map...THAN i would buy the mini gun. But right now, the PKM is totally fine!

Using PKM for everything is just not an option for me. Every time you pull the trigger you are using 30$ so you must get 30$ or you would be loosing money. Since animals (crows, rats, wolf, dogs, etc) give 0$ you will find yourself loosing a lot of money using just PKM. For players like me that dont like scavenging that would be fatal to our economy.
