    Item upgrade NPC?
    yeah (12)
     100%
    nope (0)

We all know that the feature for players to upgrade their items using Technical skill will be implemented in the future. However, if the players can learn how to upgrade items, other survivors (NPCs) can too.
So we can add a few NPC shops on the maps to help players with lower Tech skill to upgrade their items, with a fairly high price (let the devs decide)together with some additional components (more components required than self upgrading).
By upgrading items, it can be upgrading weapons, armors, ammo, bags, tools (lock pick, flashlight - a must when travel in sewer, etc).

Yes ,but it should cost a lot to create a dilemma: self upgrading which takes quite some time,or paying a lot and having a quicker upgrade.

Maybe not costing a lot, but needing special items only gettable from scavengeing with a really low chance to be found.

Good idea but there should be some things that you can only do by your own. Like npcs do small updgrades and you can do better upgrades training your tech skill.
We all die as we are born. We always find the end before the beginning. If to live means to continually search for wisdom, we'll find the end waiting after our last lesson. To finally see the subtlety of the end and understand it completely is what it means to die. We cannot help ourselves from growing wiser. Those who are helpless to their search for knowledge are those who cannot transcend death.

Yeah that's right. I guess we will be able to scav the upgrade schematics or formulas around the maps and some of them will be rare or very rare and only players can use them for upgrading items. The NPC upgraders can only do some basic upgrades though.

For example, some NPCs can only upgrade specific weapons (one NPC can be pistol expert, another can be shotgun expert, etc) to +1, +2 and +3 damage or magazine size to +5, +10 and +15 rounds. But the player can loot a schematic to self upgrade a sniper rifle to have +20 range, +5 damage, but sacrifice 5% hit rate, etc.

    Personally, I'm thinking along the lines of;

Attach scope (More range, more accuracy) or Trigger job (makes weapon more accurate) or Attach Laser Sight ( more accuracy, enables CQB)

and all these options check your tech skill to determine chance of failure and you'd need the corresponding items (scope, trigger group, laser)

An NPC could do it and could have all the items he needs, but would charge an arm and a leg...

Of course all of those things you mentioned above should be in the upgrade options. The NPC upgrades will require more components and costly. If the devs could make the payment costs for upgrade NPCs vary between them (e.g. one NPC requires 50 canned food as his payment, another requires 5 caffeine pills, another require 100 boxes of cigarettes, another asks for 1000 shotgun shells, etc) it would be more fun.

And there should be some unique epic upgrade schematics that only very lucky players can obtain and do it with very high technical skill and with the required components (maybe some of the components are even more difficult to find than the schematic itself).

I see a way for devs to farm money off of this... If your tech skill is high, you can go to a machine-shop location with alot of items, pay ($$$, not ingame money) and get your own custom, one of a kind item, named after you...

    Think of it....

Meowerine's unholy blade of power (or some shit)

Terru's terribly swift glaive (lame, yes)

    NewAgeOfPower's universal battle rifle

I'm thinking the dev's could give you one freebie custom item upon turning level 20, just to get you hooked.

The quality of your item could be tied to your smarts and tech skill, with it getting closer to what you want the closer your skills are to 100 (or something)
