hey fellow survivors, one problem i am having is trying to decide which guns to keep and which to sell. it sounds like an easy problem to solve but for some reason I like having a variety of different guns for different purposes.

so a few questions, 1. do you keep weapons that are not implemented yet, like syringe and landmine?

    2. do you keep any weapons because they are special to you? like the first gun you found or some cool looking gun like the stun gun (which i keep for use when survivors go crazy)

    1. No, I sell them all

    2. No, I only keep the most useful one. For example: the PKM because it kills horde fast but I may switch to the Compact Minigun later; the M95 because it's the strongest sniper rifle in the game currently, I may switch to a stronger one if the devs put it in later; the M16 because I scav plenty of 5.56mm ammo so I keep it to use when I run low on .50 cal for my M95; and of course the Zanbato, currently the best melee weapon in the game.

Many weapons STAY! i would hate this game if some fresh meat made the brands go away. If i could not buy a UMP even though the PKM is better, just to have the UMP, it would be stupid, maybe i want the UMP because i like the gun.

1: No, i sell them couse they only gives weight atm.
2: No, no weapon is special to me, only the more effectives are worth getting/having, that is PKM for hordes (later minigun), M95 for everything, Zanbato for when i dont have money/ammo.

PS: Yes i am poor and i dont like to scav.

Yeah the main reason I sell all of the extra weapons just because I'm saving for the minigun and more importantly, I can't carry all of them... yet

    1. No. there is no point.

    2. i carry 4 weapons, PKM for hordes, FN-SCAR-L for general use, Jackhammer for close combat and the Zanbato for when i run out of ammo for all of the above.

there are NEVER too many guns, in fact i would say we need MORE guns.

Idk but I have a certain weapon for each type of ammo...and no I didn't buy the weapons I scav mine so scar... p90... sks... shotgun.. and desert eagle 50 cal and what gun uses 7mm? also giant kunai for those pesky crows...but you can only do this if you have high encumb and no, weapons like claymore, mines, and other junk you really don't need and if you can't use atm I recommend selling.

Since I have enough strength to defense from horde, I use the zanbato whenever I can and it's so much fun, although it burns SP quite a lot

Zanbato is also a good choise to save ammo. You need to have high strenght though and it uses lot of SP. Its like you sacrficie SP for ammo.

I have a range and a pistol with me and I'm investing my skill points with Marksmanship for the meantime
But when I reach I higher level like 8 or 10 I'd like to get those Zanbatos but I have to train for Combat
    and invest on Constitution.

I really enjoy when I read fellow ZP Players having a blast killing hordes with swords..
    that's a a good mnemonic SWORDS = HORDES just like I before E except after C

I suggest you invest your points in strenght instead of constitution. Hordes hits 10 or 20 times per turn so having big health doesnt saves you. Having high strenght you can make them have just 5% chance to hit you and that way you can kill them easily with your Zanbato or any close combat weapons.

    1. I sell them, finding 4 landmines in a militar truck gives me good money.

    2. Keep the guns that fits you the most, for example I have an SKS rifle, it's like a sniper rifle, and I use it for general fighting, a PKM due to it's high damage for hordes and a katana for melee. But, some weapons are a bit special for me, like the Classic Revolver. It's not really powerful, it's ammo is a bit hard to find, but after the story of the quest in which I got it made it special for me =').

More, better Shotguns and different ammo types! Shotguns Magazine Size is too big for the short range. I love the Taurus Judge! A pistol using shotgun shell... now if THATS not cool...

With a Hunting Bag you can carry quite some stuff anyway. I prefer a day of scavenging instead of having a new gun i cant afford the bullets for.
They did the MASH! They did the monster mash... The zombies were having fun, the party had just begun!

Tinhead, you're dead right about one thing. The 3 day hunting bag rules! Gods know what I would do if that wasn't in the game.
Obviously weight is the first consideration. Not just of the weapon, but of the ammunition. Those machine guns use a lot of ammo. How much ammo do you want to carry, of how many different calibers?
My lead character uses just two types of ammo: 9mm for the P9.0 machinepistol, and 7.62 for the PSG sniper rifle (my lead weapon) and for the PKM (reserved for horde-bashing). Usually I start expeditions with about 800 to 1,000 rounds, half and half. That's probably twice what I need. I also carry a katana, which is nice for finishing up odds and ends. (Should get a Zanbato, just haven't gotten around to it yet) Don't really need anything else.
My second character has three weapons: AA12 auto-shotgun, Walther P99 9mm pistol (my lead, for range over the shotgun) and a SAW machinegun (horde-bashing). 1,000 rounds between 3 ammo types is again more than enough. I probably should sell the pistol and buy an M16 or some other 5.56 caliber rifle for my lead; or I could dump the shotgun for a 9 mm smg. Mac10 is a nice little CQB toy. UMP doesn't have the same rate of fire, but it gives nice range. Either way, I would be down to 2 ammo types and could save on weight.
The stuff that isn't implemented yet, I just sell that now. I used to lug around a landmine, a claymore and about 3 frags, but they all got to be just so much dead weight. I used the claymore, tossed the frags and didn't bother replacing them. Any I find now will be sold. Guns are so much better.

a lot of guns is nice, you can pick which you want and research in wiki to get the gun of your dreams, theirs a huge variety and a huge no. of capabilities for the massive inventory of weapons to buy, we have all kinds of guns irl, why not have them all(those still being manufactured irl + classics) in game. sure you can and probably should sell weapons you don't like but it doesn't mean they're all useless, its a lot better than l4d where you get like what? 8 weapons? they improved l4d2 but it still was no where near enough guns to experiment/have fun with.

Correction - You can never have enough AMMO.

I have an Atchisson I bought for dealing with the hordes and a scavenged HK36 in my safehouse locker just in case there is a change that makes automatic weapons something more than expensive overkill. My uber level alt just carries the M107 and katana, my newbie back on map 1 has the same but carries a shottie just in case he gets in trouble. Everything else I sell, including the .45's that I was so excited to buy and use (M1911 for my main alt, Single Action Army for my newbie) and that I still miss terribly.

yes, I'd rather have 1 gun with 1,000 rounds than 1,000 guns and just 1 round
