Zombie activity and encounters (after AJAX is up)

    currently the zombies stand like lamp poles unless you attack them, or are inactive for x minutes
    i thought that the distance between you and the zombies should be dynamic, zombies coming closer or further away
    that's why AJAX has to be up first, refreshing whole page every 10 seconds would be a pain, a REAL pain
    also scavenging container would change your distance between the zombies, and you might be attacked

    why 10 seconds? it's a timer i made up
    a turn takes 10 secs, after that you miss a turn and zombies make their move
    right now you can leave your char during combat and go for a marathon, your sp will conveniently fill up and you're good to go
    with 10 sec timer, you'll be a lump of chewed bones if you leave in the middle of the combat
    running out of sp will be very troublesome (once we have some death penalty, that is)

    if a zombie wanders near you (how near depends on the zombie), he will attack you and a rest of the group will follow
    once you start shooting, you will have 1 minute before the other zombies come and attack you

    the general idea is that you're not supposed to stay long in one place
    if you travel through the city, you have to do it fast
    this adds a sense of tension and urgency this game lacks
    your thoughts?

    Also, the thought of 10 seconds per round concerns me because sometimes it can take 5 seconds to load the page, does that mean I
    only have 5 seconds to choose my action...?

    The idea of active zombies is GOOD, im just concerned about how it would be implemented. However it seems a little unfair that high level players have been able to play and loot in peace while they were levelling up and new players would have to fight and run just to loot...

    Any thoughts?

    If you think in "realism" zombies are slow... so it would take them some time to reach to you. If you think in game mechanic, it would be great. It would add more dynamism and tension; we shouldnt be able to stay in street all night long without problem.
    Its true that old players would have an advantage but our main objective is to help the devs with the game since its still beta.
    We all die as we are born. We always find the end before the beginning. If to live means to continually search for wisdom, we'll find the end waiting after our last lesson.     10 seconds? Make it an hour.

    Again its more of a time sink if all you get is 10 seconds. Also it takes me more than a minute to refresh sometimes.
    With a Solar Powered Flash Light I promise you will never be without Illumination.

    I like this idea but make countdown 15sec because if it lags and it last a couple of seconds you dont have time to react.

    I agree with the jest of the idea. It forces you to safety to walk away from the game even for 5 or 10 minutes. I also think its kinna dumb you can rummage around 15 containers in 1 square and not attract attention. I think each "rummage" should run the risk of attracting Zeds, and the more rummaging you do in a row adds to the chance.


    From a coding standpoint. IDK if they are capable or want to pursue it.
