I don't think the Crazies really counts as a zombie film. It was a great movie, don't get me wrong. But technically they are still alive, they're just infected with something that takes away their reasoning and makes them violent.

Yep 28 days later technically isn't a zombie movie either. They're alive and infected with rage. That's why they die after 28 days, they think of nothing BUT rage so they forget to drink or eat. I am Legend is about a vampire virus.

Why has no one mentioned [REC] arguably the zombies are fast, but they're not exactly infected people, that old lady takes a hell of a lot of damage and STILL gets up. Kind of takes the genre back to the "voodoo/religious curse" origins. Also despite it being set practically in a apartment building stairwell, it creates immense claustrophobia without feel cramped, cheap or low budget. (Quarantine was a complete rip-off of this movie, see the original).
Another interesting film is The Zombie Diaries (not to be confused with Diary OTD). A British Indie film which has an unusual focus on the psychology of characters, not everyone is a beautiful movie star screaming their heads off or going postal, this film is more in line with what the original Dead films did. For me this film makes you feel as though this is happening down the road, probably helps I'm English

I watched [REC] recently and they're demons, not zombies. It explains that in the sequel [REC]2. They're infected by a central demon. I'm not that into the idea of possession so it wasn't a great movie to me.

Well disregarding the plot and "cause of sickness" they still acted similarly to zeds, yes it is not a zed flick but why do we need to be so orthodox? I Liked the movie very much though I haven't seen REC2.

I still think that while not zombies as they are in the Romero vein, possession/control is arguably what a true, original zombie is...any backers
I agree with you regarding possession, and [REC]2 did have a bit too much religious mumbo jumbo, but maybe its just because I liked the first one so much I am bound to defend it ^^

did not saw them here, and they are not my favorite (and dont know if the name are right but here it goes)

BrainDead, (there is another but really cant remember the name, i remember in the end the zeds are hunting humans couse one of them got smart, and in the police car is writen Hummman Squad, i think)

my favorites are Romeros films.

i have seen movies that show the zombies started as a voodo magic doing, they used a poison the people would be said dead, then raised from his grave just to work for the voodo magician

@APandBS

Absolutely,I really enjoyed/own The zombie diaries, which was more enjoyable to me than the latest Romero offerings.
I really wish he'd get back to his roots. While diaries isn't the zombie movie I could pop in anytime like the OG romero flick, or their remakes, I think it is as close to an instructional video for the end of the world as has been made yet. I wish someone would make a more American version, more guns.

While not your average "zombie" movie I have to say I enjoyed 28 days later. I thought it was a great evolution on the zombie theme.

I recorded all the walking dead shows and am waiting on the new ones myself. I wish I could shake the producers tho as they have some glaring mistakes in the show they should work to correct if they want to make it more realistic

This one isn't a movie....it's a short film, from either Australia or New Zealand
I Love Sara Jane
it's about 20 minutes long and is about a bunch of teens and tweeners holed-up in a house
I believe I found it on IFC (Independant Film Channel)....not much to it but it was realy good and made it's point fairly well
if you can find it....I highly recommend it
I doubt you'll be disappointed

Undoubtedly, the original Dawn of the Dead. Sorry, but I cannot get used to the idea of fast-moving zeds. (That's like non-alcoholic beer.)

But after that is an old Italian-made number called simply 'Zombies'. It was here I first realized that since zeds presumably don't breathe, they can move about freely underwater.

On the downside it was set on an isolated island, so felt more like a voodoo movie. (The ending, though, made up for that.)

The first two Resident Evils were okay, but as the producers started getting more explosion- and effects-happy, the franchise started to go downhill. Zombie movies shouldn't be all flash-bang, but a creeping horror.

I love fast paced zeds, it makes everything more crazy and scary and most important of all: harder to survive.

1. 28 days later
2. The walking dead
3. 28 weeks later
4. Dawn of the dead (2004)
5. Dead set
6. The Crazies (2010)
7. Zombieland
8. Resident Evi
9. Shaun of the dead (wasn't in a good mood when i saw it, going to watch it again when im in a movie mood)
10. I am legend

I haven't seen [REC] yet, but i've heard it's rly good.

As for the old classic zed movies, it was so long ago (about 11-13 years ago) i saw them and i was rly young (11-13 years old) so ive mixed them all up in my head, and therefore i dont remember which one was good.
Going to have to take a old-school movie night soon.

And of coursse COLIN for the zombie movie "the other way round"

I just recently saw Colin and thought it was a great flick....granted, half of the dialog in the movie was utterly ruined by the actors (particularly the two punks who attack Colin early on in the film and the old man with the "Zombie-Girl Collection" down in the basement....shameful ), other than that it was a solid film and was the freshest idea in a zombie movie since the first time I saw Shaun of the Dead.
The actor who played Colin did a great job....best zombie performance from a lead actor ever.
If you haven't seen this one yet then make it a point to watch it.

If AMC's the walking dead is considered a movie, I'd totally say that.
But I guess zombie land, the most recent one I've seen.
Can't think of anything else right now. .-.
