Seems like it is a good strategy, multiple character play, however my patience doesn't really allow me to play more than one character. : P Geez, I sound like an old man. -.- Anyway, playing every other day allows me to burn 1440 SP on one night which is adequate to me. Plus I don't have to waste time at the Living Quarters and can, instead, focus on training.

Sounds like you have a good strategy and it works for you.

I am still to weak to CC all the time. CC is 80 with a +10 from the katana. At this level what I save in ammo I lose in heath items so I still have to use a mix of sniper rifle to thin them down and my katana to finish them off

I pretty much live by my chainsaw now,and earn about $1k to $2k a session.

Theyve seem to have upped the damage the large zombies groups are doing though,so i often level getting full hps at about 10% health.And ive actually even used a stimpack or 2 recently.But even my chars in their 70s can do this.So yea,money still really isnt an issue.

Im okay with the food system.I loot far more of it than i use in a session most times,and im hoping to see some of the rooms used for food generation.

Course i might find a whole new situation after the skill point nerf......

Well, I know this is off-topic, but still. Updating on a previous conversation:

@Spiderjerusalem:

Also, you can eventually get a PKM and spray raiders into bits, that only takes marksmanship 100 or so I think. The elegant solution is a top tier sniper rifle and 200 marksmanship, it should crit nicely for a low ammo cost. Possibly not as effective as the PKM though.

Oh my God. The PKM is lovely. Burns ammo like candy, though, which is probably why we're not supposed to use burst mode for every single zed. Still, with proper strategy and a secondary handgun for the weakest zeds - plus a melee weapon for close combat - I believe I've got it set now.

I can't afford the PKM but the strategy works as I am doing basicly the same running a sniper rifle, backed up with the M11A1 with a katana for anything that gets to close. I'm not sure if the 6 round burst of 9MM shells is more or less expensive then the PKM.

@Lord Simon Cross:

In the end, however, I ended up giving up my secondary firearm. The single shot of the PKM is more than enough for the role of a "secondary weapon", even at closer ranges. It suffers slightly in comparison to other weapon types, but a good Marksmanship resolves most of the handicap. Plus, the higher damage output compensates quite a bit and having to sustain only one weapon and one ammo type is also a good plus.

I'm not sure about the sniper rifle, but from what I've read, it seems like a more sophisticated solution. As for the ammo costs, I don't really know the prices for the 9mm shells, but if the burst takes 6 instead of 5, like the PKM, then it's probably more expensive, but I can't be sure.

At any rate, developing close combat is probably the way to go. Spraying zeds with a PKM is mighty fun but incredibly damaging on your wallet, so I won't be endorsing that as my main strategy. Perhaps only when speed-levelling against large mobs; against random encounters, I still prefer the single-shot + eventual close combat strategy.

M11a1 vs DSAC58 vs PKM

The price for a 6 round burst of 9mm ($4*6=$24) is almost the same as a 3 round burst of 7.62 ($7*3=$21). Damage wise they're quite different though, 42-60 vs 36-51. The PKM goes one step further and fires a 5 round burst of 7.62 ($7*5=$35) for massive 75-96 damage.

Regarding secondary weapons.. before I was using M590 as main weapon against zombies, with M11a1 as finisher (low HP zombies) and troubleshooter (extra hard to kill stuff). Then the M11 and eventually the M590 fell by the wayside as the gkunai started slicing everything in sight.

Now that there will be changes regarding how movement in combat happens and that I'm getting up to map 3, I've resumed my previous strategy with the PKM acting as an all in one: Sniper rifle for distant targets(burst), massive damage for troublemakers (burst), and main weapon/finisher for regular work (single shot). Sniper rifles have too small a clip and are too ammo expensive for my taste. Plus, I don't really need high marks to hit anyone far away/crit him, I just spray lead in that general direction. Even if I only score 2 out of 5 hits it'll still be enough.

The hard work will still fall upon the gkunai though. PKM is fine and dandy, but you can't use it in melee.

Ok.....
so it's been a few weeks since the hunger management feature went live and this thread went north, south, east, west and all points in between.
I've gotta admit....I'm getting used to it (I have to after all....it ain't going nowhere )
....it can still be a pain at times but I have at least found ONE clear advantage to it

ENCUMBRANCE MANAGEMENT
.....that's right, every time you take a time-out for a munch-on you gain that much more space to carry loot while on the run

I like that.....when I reach my encumbrance cap and need to shed some pounds to get to the nearest shop in a hurry, I don't need to dump any potential income for a quick get-away.....I just have a quick lunch and I'm down the road.

I can live with that

I have found I can buy 200$ worth of food and it lasts 2 weeks or so. I simply eat anything I find when I find it and put any extra in my locker. On days food is slim pickins I eat before goin to bed for the night.

lol
It's funny you should say that.
A few days after the Hunger System went live I spent $400 or $500 in groceries for each of my 4 characters.
I haven't had to dip into my culinary stock-pile much....3-or-4 cans here and there...but it comes in handy if I need to eat and don't have any money.

One thing tho....I used to turn my nose up at rotten food....f#ck it, it's still food

With the recently released update we have introduced new attack types and new combat effects. It's important to stress that this is still the early phase of the planned advanced combat system which will also include a much more graphical interface and loot from killed opponents as well as being able to equip bayonets, scopes and other extensions to your weapons. Here is a short guide to how it works.
