Ok....so you can build a water purification unit for your safe-house .....so what's gonna be done with it? I've been thinking of this since I fininshed the "Bob the Builder" thing with mine and I can't help wondering about how it's gonna work and how will you store/disburse the water as the tank fills. There's plenty of empty bottles to be found around the ZP version of Manhattan Island, so there will be at least SOMETHING to carry this new consumable in .....but what other options (if any) will there be once it goes live and the water tank gets full? Empty glass bottles seem impractical to me, will there be plastic or aluminum drink bottles in ZP's future? .....plastic/vinyl water bladders? .....wine skins? Anyone else besides me thinking of this? .....any thoughts? |

I always thought the empty bottles would be for cocktails LOL I would just assume water bottles would appear for the water, IDK |

Maybe water purifiers could mean free food at the safe house at the cost of sp (for refilling bottles and drinking water). |

Well maybe the water supplier won't require empty bottle and will simply produce new water bottles directly into your inventory. A plastic waterbottle is reusable pretty much ad-infinitum. And not everything has to use craft mechanics. Considering the low price of a water bottle at shops I'd say crafting in this instance would be somewhat ridiculous. |

Not all water containers are made equal Some may weigh less than others, or require less sp to refill, or even be used as weapons, etc Id also like to say that requiring empty bottles/containers would add to realism, as well as give empty bottles in the game actual utility. And on a practical note, having a tainted container could lead to sickness or death. Iit would be reasonable to assume that a survivor would take reasonable measures to secure good, clean drinking containers and not just pick a few off the sidewalk or curb. |

Another thing that's been on my mind is that I've noticed that empty plastic water bottles are now findable. If that's the case then why can't full water bottles be converted to empty water bottles and remain in your inventory after you drink the water? GO GREEN....RECYCLE....REUSE!! |

A few suggestions I'd like to make for possible water container options are ones that you can buy at most sporting-goods stores today. These would have multiple uses from one "Full Load" of water and depending on the model would have an Encumbrance penalty and possible agility penalties 1) 1 Liter Aluminum Water bottle....can be sold @ Master of Sports, the mall or @ Autumn Leaves for $45 to $50 ....equivalent to 3 bottles of water 2) 2 Liter Plastic Travel Bottle.....can be sold @ most locations for about $20 to $40 ....equivalent to 5-6 bottles of water 3) Wineskin.....you know those teardrop shaped bladders made from a goat's stomach or bladder and wrapped with goatskin that goat herders carry water or whatever in? Can be bought @ Autumn Leaves or Germaine's for about $30 ....equivalent to 5 bottles of water 4) "Banjo" Canteen....yup, one of those old west style round canteens with a strap....can be bought @ the Hardware Store or Germaine's for $50 ....equivalent to 6 bottles of water...-1 Encumbrance, -1 Agility 5) G.I. Canteen....standard issue plastic canteen carried by soldiers in the field....comes with a belt pouch and can be bought at the Military outpost at the Ball Park or at for Gary's Gun Store for $45 ....equivalent to 2 bottles of water....-1 Agility 6) 3 Liter Vinyl Water Bladder or "Camel Back".....comes in a protective canvas bag that's strapped to your back like a backpack but is slim enough to actually wear UNDER a backpack.....This however will have to be a "Premium" item....you'll still be able to loot it anywhere if lady luck winks at you, but if you want to buy it you'll have to fork over 7 to 10 points for it. .....equivalent to 9-10 bottles of water....-2 Encumbrance, -3 Agility ......how am I doing so far? |

The "Water Bottle Eqyivalent" dictates how many uses you get from any 1 container .....for instance, a 1 liter bottle (equivalent to 3 bottles of water) would get you 3 uses or doses/shots of water |

Doesn't seem to be very realistic to me Spidy. You have to have something to put your water in, right? Unless you have something to carry yer water in, you don't get to carry any water. Hence all the empty water bottles you can loot around ZP.....and my idea for buyable/lootable sports bottles and canteens (OH....yeah, and the beer helmet thanx Monk). However....in regards to refilling these bottles, a solution can be found in the same idea of barricading your safe-house. The method/mechanics are relatively the same, when you click "View" on the water purification room at your safe-house just "add" empty water bottles or buyable/lootable water containers to be filled and put back into your inventory. Although instead of "Adding" an empty, you'd be asked to "Fill" instead and be given an option of how many bottles/containers you'd like to fill like you would with how many barricade items you'd like to add to your building material storage. A plastic waterbottle is reusable pretty much ad-infinitum. And not everything has to use craft mechanics. Considering the low price of a water bottle at shops I'd say crafting in this instance would be somewhat ridiculous. Exactly....with all the empty water bottles you can find while looting you'd have no problem finding something to fill at the tap, and with the addition of higher volume reusable water bottles, canteens and water bags/bladders the amount of water you can carry will be increased significantly. |

In short: WATER PURIFICATION... How does it work? It makes water bottles? How do we pick up the water bottles? If we make two water purifiers, will the safehouse make water bottles twice as fast? Hmmmm.

Are they going to magigcaly appear out of thin air full and find it's way into your inventory? Not very realistic.....unless you were implying that you would have to "Add" empty water bottles to the water purification unit like you would adding building/barricading materials to your safe-house's storage room inventory? Pretty much any place you go you'll be able to find an empty (or full) plastic bottle. In a car, at an apartment, in an office, at a litter bin... But, if push need come to shove, you also "magically" got your tshirt, 9mm and assorted items out of thin air. It is not unreasonable to add at least one reusable water bottle to that list. I too have seen the new empty water bottle, which means a specific item (empty water bottle) is required to work with the water purification system. That just leaves one question: Is the bottle reusable? Makes no sense for it not to be, it's made of reasonably durable plastic. So, from a realistic perspective, it should be usable ad infinitum. From a game balance perspective I can understand why the devs wouldn't want people walking around with 10-20 reusaable water bottles and wrecking havok with the hunger system (free food anyone?) We'll see what happens. |
