Odd thought I know, but how about making it MORE difficult for Beta Testers in the reset game, rather than less? After all, like it or not, experienced BT's are going to have skills and knowledge new players aren't (like training, what guns to go for, which zombies/locations are worth the trouble, etc). Unless we're careful, it could be come a beta-tester free for all when the game resets, with BT's running clans of newcomers, picking out all the best zombie locales, best weapons, etc. Now if the beta testers themselves were thrown a curveball of increased difficulty of survival themselves, it might help in balancing out that advantage, and make things fairer for both BT's and newcomers.

After all, we know we're good, right? So why not up the difficulty level for experienced players? Make normal zombies tougher to kill perhaps (with no XP/dollar bonus) or throw more nasty random zombies at extreme close range into the mix. Heck, for BT players, you could throw in a "Nemesis" style zombie who turns up after say level 20 and is to BT players what a Nemesis is to S.T.A.R.S cops.

So what I'm saying is, how about a reward that adds a new challenge for BT players? That way, they don't cruise on autopilot with the best guns, at the best locations, killing the best zombies, and yawning, because it's all a bit too easy now..?

I completely disagree. All of our stats are going to be reset and our money and equipment lost, so even with our knowledge of the game, we won't be much better off than the newbies, at least not at first. Besides, a simple game like this really isn't hard to figure out.

I like the idea of a Nemesis though.

We should have our names reserved. I don't want to get on a few hours after the update and find that every version of my name is used because people want to grief me. Names should be reserved. At least for the top 200 players.

I must be the only one who wants to change mine. I want to be able to make my character name and account name the same. Ah well. Too lazy to start with a new character.

That sounds intriguing. I like the idea of new challenges. It would make the game more exciting for those who knew the game inside and out before the reset. You could have increased difficulty as an option available to testers. Maybe even rearrange the new map a little bit, enough to throw off those who knew the old map well.

Though i cannot sa yi am a BTa tester myself, not as long as some other veteran players I must say the idea is appealing for me also.Better chellenge is more involving. And Im for it.Because as you look it through the fact of advantage is inescapable because knwing the ins & outs of the game is the key here, not an implied boost .

OooooOOOOH I likey! Even something as simple as starting out without the $100 and the caffeine pills, and maybe brass knuckles instead of a pocketknife cuz we're so tough.

Right now though I'd be happy with an auto login on this fukken forum.

Most players were just logging in and renewing their training and getting free points so the devs changed it as it was pretty broken.

Random thought: What if beta testers were subject to an illness temporarily? Something to slow us down/change gameplay slightly? I thought that since we'd be old timers, and have been exposed to the environment more, we'd be more susceptible to disease XD lol

temporary disease.... hmm... would be a good death penalty, but I can't remember if we had this discussion already in the old forum.

these reset news, kinda discourage me to continue playing and leveling.... i mean, whats the point right!? can you guyz at least tell us when are you planning to do the reset! if you say like a year or 6 month. then i would gladdly keep playing and leveling but if its like 1 month... then i can just wait and just roam around the city, tagging all sorts of crap

The entire point of playing the beta is to help add content, report errors and new ideas. Its not really meant for you to play as if you are gonna keep everything. Although, when the final game starts, Ill probably do my skills the exact same. It is kinda sucky to think of all the training time and map clicks Ive done to be lost, but it is all so the game can be that much more fun for everyone when it comes out. Focus more on helping with content and ideas, and less on your levels or skills. The skills arnt even finished so some players have 10 tech and stuff like that. A reset is basically a requirement. I cant wait for the final game though. xD

1st: At least one... thank you Seth Myrrh

2cd: There is an old post from me concerning the same discussion in the old Forum.

Posted By TheWicked on Fri Jan 01, 2010 10:27 pm ; old Forum

does everyone forget what his job actually is - beside having fun with this game -
everyones job is to submit bugs, misspelled text, even if it is only a missing dot after a sentence.

than we need many location pictures, okay most probably do not live in a big city like me, but i still find some pics which can be a good pic for some.

but beside that.

things are changing everytime, the gameplay also changes, while i was playing, the training stuff changed after the last reset, and the strategy i had last time won't work now. also there are now the constitution point available, and soon there will be armor and the other skills get implemented and atleast than we need a restart.

restart are needed to get the game development process forward.

and if someone now says, "but i worked so hard to get my weapon, and blah blah blah."

1. it is a game in development, and they, the ZP-Team need us to test everything from the beginning to the (is there even an end, guess not )... next major change in the game.

2. i see no reason to find a second argument.

Seth & Wicked said all about it .WE are here for the nice & smooth finishing effect not for "yey I m good cause i had been a tester I have my skills and stuff and its soo good ."For me it is fine when i can suggest sth to improve the game itself.Dealing headshts to the horde ,lvling and so on is an addition for now the more one focuses on adding contets the better game we would have in the end dont you think? So I dont mind losing the exp i have and resets if this makes the game even more smashing then why not do it?

I think the clue is in the phrase "beta TESTERS" - not beta PLAYERS. It's up to everyone who tests (and contributes) to the game, to help pick up on bugs, spellcheck, add text, images, photos, and anything else, to make this the best game out there.

I mean imagine coming back to this game a year from now, and seeing it up and running, with something you contributed too. You can sit there with a big grin on your face and say "I did/said/posted/created that!"

Works for me - and besides, when you reach the end of a RPG game, isn't it customary to start again with the same set of characters, and little or nothing to show for your hard work and effort?

Besides having the respect of the community. What advantage can the Devs give us that isn't overpowered which will make people sad as it is not an "Advantage".

I agree. Submitting bugs, artwork and ideas for new features should guarantee us that we won't be penalized whatsoever. If anything, we should be REWARDED for our work, not punished. That makes about as much sense as handing out loaded pistols to children.

Dealing with an illness whereas newbies don't have to? Harder enemies only for us? Enemies in general harder for us to kill? Things like this, I feel, are totally unnecessary.

If you're really going to beat us down because we helped you create a game, at least give us the option not to bear the extra weight. Some of us don't feel like we should have to deal with extra crap just because we played the beta.

The very idea just completely ticks me off

@Aiden.

I would have to agree.

It seems like its been decided already though that there will be no difference. The dev team has mentioned beta players getting (fluff, or bling) Nothing to alter stats, %s, enemy difficulty, or anything like that.

I guess it will take at least another summer before BETA actually ends, espacially balancing takes a lot of time, than there are many features on the todo list which needs to be done, for example the Clan feature is a huge project. So at least not before summer or autumn maybe, and you should know that they (the ZP-Dev-Team) are a small group and ZP is a spare time indie project.

But i'm only a moderator so i can't say it for sure when BETA will end.

Yah, I wouldnt expect a full version for a while. Try not to pressure the dev team though. It's one of the most common game company mistakes. They get pressured and pressured for a release date, then they can't make the date on time and everyone flames them. Or they luanch the game and its not finished and flops. Just relax. This game is worth waiting for.

Look how many years we waited for Half-Life 2. When I saw the tech demo video I almost shat myself. I could have killed to play it. (not literaly) xD It took them 7 years or something to make it. And it is what... 8 years old now. And it is still better than some first person shooters that are just now being released. Half-Life is a huge inspiration for me in the way games should be. Dark, real feeling, nice story, interesting characters, and you get to hit stuff with a crowbar!! o.O Snap!!

I agree completely that after Beta, this game need to be reset!

And about those advantage we the Beta testers should have ==> No, we don't need those! I would prefer we have a new symbol behind our name or sumthing like that, than those more money, weapon and sumthing else...

Imagine what the newbie will say if they join this game and then realize that we, the beta tester / the oldtimer / the more experienced player, have more advantage than them, and it'll make the gap much more bigger between the newbie and the oldtimer...

The newbe might say "This is game is just for the developer and the beta tester, we should not playing this game anyway..." ==> if they say that, we can kiss ourselves, ZP Community, and the ZP Server goodbye !!

I would prefer giving the newbie kinda 3 days boost to experience gain, just to make them much much more interested with the game, while us have the same advantage, but with more idea to where we should hunt 1st etc etc...
