In a way, I disagree with resetting characters. The arguement that, as is, we would inbalance the game is essentially invalid - the game is already currently open to any and everyone. There's no limited number of beta spaces with which players can level up and then dominate over newbies when the release comes. In the current situation, we can see a player level demographic identical to the one we'll see when the game is released - albeit with a smaller population.

However, some benefits do come from resetting - "mixing" things up a bit, starting on a clean slate. Regardless, This would be at the expense of (at the time of this post) roughly 50,000 people who have already created their character.

While I do understand that our role while we play currently is to find bugs and report feedback, as I mentionned earlier, the game is almost as if released; it's not difficult to find when searching, there is no limited signup criteria, we have a very standard level demographic, we have a very playable and currently enjoyable game.

Of course, many of us (myself included) have also worked very hard on our characters. Trying to avoid the sway of that arguement is difficult.

All said and done, however, I realise that the characters, sadly, will more than likely be reset. If that is to happen, then I am certainly against giving beta testers any advantage over the newcomers; that would remove the entire point of resetting altogether.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

i understand that our role is to test the game and report bugs and all of that but the fact that all the work i have put into my character, all the time spent training, scav'ing etc. Really shits me off to the point i probably wont play after the re-set.

How long until this happens?

i think it needs a reset to be fair and hae a larger player base on map 1. i would love a chance of a restart. or maybe offer beta players an optional restart with a slight extra advantage of +2 extra skill points for the first 3 levels.

Perk seem to be a good idea. A new player might think "a hell these beta testers have to much boost why they soud have?Just because they tested the game?"
So More money is not a good idea, contrary to perk which is justified.

I know which perk it has to be, well, at least an idea: "Experienced Survivor: If you die there is a 15% that you will get out of the battle with 10 hp".
Basicly an auto-rescue xD

I hope there is no reset.
I think Games usually have an Alpha, a Closed Beta, then an Open Beta.
Usually they reset from Alpha and Closed because not everyone can get in. But when it's an open Beta they don't reset the characters because EVERYONE had the chance to join.

hmm... I was just thinking, if our stats were resetted... I wonder how the premium members will react to that... After all they paid for getting the 960 sp and other privileges as well...

The icon thing is good.

But what about all the hours put into training? Will they automatically be added to whichever stat they were supposed to be in(if not that would a waste of time).

The BTs should continue on in the game. There may be more areas for us to test before public release.

As for the reset, as least let us keep 3 items (for me hunting shotgun, frag grenade(1) and army bag) as an incentive to continue playing, but lock them until like 24/48h later then can use, to be fair to newbs. If not many BTs will quit after the full version is released.

I don't really care much about the explored map, I'm just lvl 4, so you can reset the fog of war at the same time jumble the stores up. We would then lose the advantage of knowing where everything is, making it more fair.

(btw dragonofchaos is not my username or characrer name)

i mean, if you enjoy the game you shouldn't have problems with starting over
it should be as fun at the beginning as at the end

What about this,
1st: You can reset all the characters but give them a better head start like a simple armor, weapons, Exp up(i mean fast to gain level from early), Money Up, etc.
2nd: reset the players below level 50 and those who have been reset can get a benefit of the 1st idea.
3rd: reset all players but give them the recognition as "LEGENDS" and get the benefit of the 1st idea.

I think reset is the fairest thing. Think about it, many players leveled and got money when game was still unbalanced, this wouldnt be fair for the new ones. I also think that beta testers should have a bonus for their testing. This could be a title, premium for some days or a small exp and money gain for a short time.
We all die as we are born. We always find the end before the beginning. If to live means to continually search for wisdom, we'll find the end waiting after our last lesson. To finally see the subtlety of the end and understand it completely is what it means to die. We cannot help ourselves from growing wiser. Those who are helpless to their search for knowledge are those who cannot transcend death.

So eat your twinkies before they go stale. I sure hope we get to play with matches when the flaming hairspray is implemented. (among other things my mother wouldn't let me do in the house)

T is certainly right, the reset is the fairest thing. As is Kd. Think of how this game has changed, and is still changing. Playing the final version will be like playing a new game.

If you get everything then there's no point in reset. 3/5 items is better if you still want them, or nominated 3/5 items and these items will have a higher chance of scavenging out.

Oh yea Twinkies dun go stale so I can eat it at leisure

Hi All

If the game is reset it implies 'reset', not give some people an added tweak to begin with....I am happy to begin again.

In all seriousness, beta testers already have an advantage...they know how to play the game.

Cheers

I would be fine with a reset. I might lose motivation but I'd return someday. The problem is for those who are a very high level and have put in a lot of time. I'm level four and have spent about two hours on this game. A reset would simply mean spending another 2 hours to get to the same place I'm at now. However for those a higher level, something should be devised so it is fair but they are also recognised.

Well the game is in beta, we can do both play and test things. The reset is necessary to make a fresh start for everybody and i think complaining does not make sense.

With the recently released update we have introduced new attack types and new combat effects. It's important to stress that this is still the early phase of the planned advanced combat system which will also include a much more graphical interface and loot from killed opponents as well as being able to equip bayonets, scopes and other extensions to your weapons.
