We are planning a new approach to items with scavenging being enabled and having retired the "infinite free items" feature.

Going forward we plan to adjust all items to represent some (if only a very small value). The concept is obviously that you should make profit on selling looted items to the safehouses and shops scattered around the city and some goods would be very valuable in a post apocalyptic world. As scavenging cost SP and you can only carry a limited number of items a reward to a lot of the stuff which is currently useless junk should hopefully add more gameplay as well.

Examples of valuable items besides weapons, ammo and food could be as Dagrunt has suggested booze as it can used for medical reasons.

Coming next is scavenging options inside with items matching the locations. Say food items, forks and plates at the restaurant and scissors and hairspray in hair dressers salon etc.

Indeed, sounds cool. It will all help to make the setting more believable.
    Best regards!

Ignoring entirely the question. Why would the hospital or Germaine's guns or anyone pay you a buck apiece for 20 used suitcases? Who's going to pay you for a cash register or an excavator?
Now if someone cares to submit a plan for using umbrellas and hockey sticks as tie-rods connecting suitcases full of books into a very stable and reliable barricade, I'll accept that. I'll accept anything that involves the use of mannequin legs or bowling balls or whatever is currently a joke find. And when clans are allowed to build safe-houses, let that be the preferred mode of construction. Don't give me a new find, and call it rubbish suitable for barricading. We already have plenty of rubbish, lets find ways of using it.

With the recently released update we have introduced new attack types and new combat effects. It's important to stress that this is still the early phase of the planned advanced combat system which will also include a much more graphical interface and loot from killed opponents as well as being able to equip bayonets, scopes and other extensions to your weapons. Here is a short guide to how it works.
