Cowboys? Actually... yes. Yes we do. They even wear cowboy hats to school. No joke. Most are fake. Some however are not.

Cailifornia, Home of Hollywood, and pretty much the home of Las Vegas too. Everybody knows that people from Nevada don't actually go there.

As for my game plan with Zombies, I'm going with the good old "Melee weapons don't need reloading"

Im not sure if I speak for everybody but I have a hard time taking skinny, frail, pale kids who wear tight black clothes/pants seriously.
Also, Isnt America having a black president one of the seven signs of the zombie Apocalypse or something? I mean, we've ALL read World War Z by now right?
I think people are just being rationally cautious.

hahaha! that made me laugh, im a us citizen and i never thought of him being part of that, but it makes perfect sense :/

dunno if it has to be a black president but in the start he seems like one of the best presidents, but after a few times of re-elections he will spend all the money on weapons (ballistic and bio)
and then we have ww3 and probably wwZ too

No i dont, so all i have to do is sit here and see yu people down there in Baghdad blow your self up with half the world (excluding norway, we always survive)

I think we can all agree that if someone makes a zombie-version of Twilight and gives zombies sparkling skin or something, then its time we abandon the zombie thing not to encourage such crap.

The zombie fad has always been beating brightly. There are so many lures that outlast the whole Vampire/Werewolf craze. First and foremost, if there were a werewolf uprising, the most we could hope to do would be to lay down and die. With the zombie apocalypse, humanity has a chance (however slight it may be). I think people are attracted to this chance. They believe that most people will probably get the shaft, but not me... I'm better and faster and smarter than the bloke down the street. As a person who has invested time and money into a defense plan that (although I pretend is based in natural disaster/home invasion type scenarios) is largely based on a zombie apocalypse. And yes, I am a stable grown man with a six year degree, family, home and job.

Also, in our current society, we don't really have a rite of passage or a sense of accomplishment. So many people are locked into, what they see as meaningless jobs. We're fighting a war (here in the US) many are unsure is just, which calls to question our entire nation (and what is our nation, but a reflection of our selves as a democracy). The concept of fighting for survival strikes a romantic chord in us, because there is nothing more meaningful than fighting for the right to live, and a zombie apocalypse would provide that.

Lastly, what draws me to the whole zombie survival dream, is camaraderie. Many of us don't even know our neighbors. People are upset over trivial things such as the color of peoples' skin, or their sexual preference. None of these things will matter once the bomb drops or the dead rise. Everyone will have to come together, once again, just to survive. Whether or not Steve drives too slow when he picks up the kids from the pool won't matter when you're standing back to back with him against a swarm of unsavory beasts. In those moments, he will be more than your best friend. He will be the life of you.

To be alive will mean something powerful, and I think many of us are looking for that.

Wow. That was probably one of the most original and insightful analyses of the zombie fascination that I have seen.

Very nice Serraphazel, I'm thinking about writing up my own survival plan aswell under the guise of general disaster but the problem is there are so few disasters in the UK you'd still look like a mad man.

If you really think about it, zombies have gone through a fad that just hasn't died down already. Zombies were originally related to voodoo curses, not really flesh eating undead.

I'll be happy as long as zombies don't start sparkling or puking glitter. I like the differences in zombies from story to story. Whether they're fast or slow, as long as they eat flesh and cause the end of the world they're still zombies. Fast one particularly scare me though.. I can't run.
