I can remember a discussion about this one. So should the forum stay English only?

Yeah thanks for the grammar correction... you're always welcome to correct me... , I also tried to edit my post but then I messed up everything. So I had to do a new poll, but I forgot to edit my backup. Then I just copy&pasted it and pressed submit... I was to lazy to delete it and post it again...

I'm kind of in between No.3 and 4. Allowing different languages will encourage communication and Feedback but what if they send Feedback to the Devs in another language?

Gonna pick 4 though.

Well the game is based in english..Im not saying players shouldnt be allowed to speak their native language, but the majority of the users and the game itself is set on english and too many languages can divide the community. Like the story of babel.

EDIT: Like the german clan thread. Thats ok, but if everyone started speaking german...Well..It just wouldnt work.

Okay, so other languages only allowed in Clan Threads?

That seems kind of limited to people who may want to speak other languages. (not myself I only know English )

Well since I was one of the first few who said they should post in english in the clan thread at that time I think I should share my reason why.

It happened in my old forum. There was a discussion thread about some weird competition thing. Remember this was like in 2004 Babel fish was relatively unknown then. The competition was open to everyone but almost no one knew it because it was posted in French by one of our french members who couldn't speak very well. He used the thread to start the competition and also introduce himself. Since it was a graphic forum(photoshop stuff) he came under a lot of flack from most of us who were from places such as USA UK and Asia(3 of us.).

It created a rift inside the forum when it came to discuss about an English only policy and using such things as instant translators(the technology was there but no one really knew where to find it and it still pretty much sucks). We fought for about a few weeks before our Moderator decided that If you want to post in a foreign language either introduce your thread in english so people can figure out what you're talking about or don't post in a foreign language.

As much as this truly only affected that 1 french user. It created a lot of difference between us. Especially those who could actually speak french compared to those who didn't

Maybe you could add a forum meant for foreign languages. Of course that would mean you'd have to have mods that know ALL those languages used.

Well i would pick 4.I dont like the whole "sections" Idea, because this may lead to divisions, within the forum itself.using languages other then english is a good idea but each post should be translated (at least for the general understanding).Plus i remember a situation wlen someone started using Polish Language and there was a fuss, so i propose a rule that if we use other languages we are strictly forbidden to offend anyone who doesnt know the language used.I think its obvious.

All in all, using mother tongues in clan threads Yes,division into language sections NO.

i dont care as long as there is an admin that speaks that language cuz we dont want someone speaking another language than no one in here understands

I think that the Forum sould be: English-Spanish-French-Russian

Thats unfair, if the russian, french and spanish people's gonna get their own language on the forum, i want norwegian and swedish, and icelandic, and Zwuhulu(you see where this is going?)

no, it started at english it should finish at english.

It would be mean to other people if we only had english forums, we should have two forums, one for spanish/french/walrus/ etc and one for english. So everybody is happy.

English game, English Forums, Russian game, Russian Forums, German game, German Forums, you see the way the story goes?

If you want to play a English game, you need to know English, if you know English, you can type it, i dont mind the occasional bad spelling and grammar, as long as its not "permanent". people saying sorry for typing little bad are usually better than they think, i've seen americans type worse than most foreigners i've ever talked to (dyslexia INCLUDED).
