Ok, so while playing the game a question popped up and before I posted here, I decided to search for a forum topic already here that was relevant to my question.....I found a great topic http://blog.zombiepandemic.com/Foru...t.aspx#974
That thread gave alot of great info on the questions I had about scavenging but does all the information still apply at this particular time??
I kill and scavenge at about a 85/15 rate, and recently I have been hanging out in Map 1. Any reference I make going forward is only referring to Map 1, but if someone feels it applies in map 2 then great. From what I have read from other players and my own experience when scavenging the BEST items turn up in Military Vehicles, SWAT cars, APCs and Police Cars, I guess the next places would be Ice Cream Trucks and some cars to a certain extent. But I have NEVER seen anyone post having scavenged ANYTHING from a Garbage Dumpster, Garbage Bin or Garbage Truck. I'm not sure if anyone ever checks in these places often but I doubt it. My thought is, no one checks them because we assume there will never be anything worthwhile in them, why have them at the locations? Below kind of hashes out what I'm trying to say...this was taken from the post I referenced earlier......

    2. I'm sure this is already the intention but I figured I'd say it anyway- containers should contain salvage that is relevant to their type (for the most part). You're not gonna find very many frag-grenades in a pile of trash, but in an APC that would obviously be much more plausible. It's still fun to find something REALLY random or awesome even in an unexpected place, so I would be all for finding a flamethrowers in dumpsters, teddy bears in APC's, etc. BUT it should be a very rare occurence- the exception, not the rule.

    a. One obvious problem of the scavenging system is going to be balancing realism with practicality/fairness. It's going to be rough, but a general rule of thumb would be, the better the item-> the more rare it is. This seems pretty intuitive, but thought I'd mention it just in case. Let me clarify: I am not asking for an 'item grinding' system where you have to search for weeks before finding a good item, nor do I want a system that is TOO realistic (in real life you'd never really find anything but trash in piles of trash, no one throws guns, ammo, and stimpacks in the garbage , nor nor do I want a system that makes it too easy to find good stuff around every corner (cuz then everyone will be rich and there will be no challenge), SOOO essentially- somewhere in the middle of all this lies a balance of fun and rainbows.

From what I've seen playing the game this is still correct however I have found the garbage bin, truck and piles of junk occasionally have food/water/beer in them and pills now and then. I no longer scavage them, infact it's been ages since I scavaged at all, but when I first started out I scavaged everything possible at each location and took everything I found for selling. If you ever needed a maniquine leg, i was your man!

I agree it should be rare but not ultra rare to find items in locations they don't match after all this is the zombie appocolips after all. I'm not sure if we ever found out how long the disaster has been going on but you can imagin with all the people trying to run away they would have guns/swords in any vehicle they could find running. And with people getting over powered by hoards they could have dropped their gun as they were attacked and it landed in rubbish? Just some ideas for explanations.

I think this is how it works. I found an uzi once and almost wet my pants! Haven't found anything nearly as good since although yea scavenging has pretty much peetered off for me. I think there is also something to do with time so the longer a location stays un-scavenged the better the item you find in it but I could be wrong.

On a side note I like your numbering for the list of three comments you made, we start off with no number 1 then move on to number 2 then change our mind and go onto 'a' lol give me a chuckle

Thanks for the comment RyanfaeScotland, but if you read closely the comments with no number were my own, what you see numbered and/or lettered were taken from the earlier post I was referring to and that was the layout on THAT post. Perhaps you could follow the link I provided and read the entire post, then maybe it may make more sense to you and you may even get a bigger chuckle. Cheers!!

I think if we are all looking in military and emergency vehicles that is where we will find the "good stuff". I've found uzis in the red sports car 2 for sure possibly 3 but one may have been in a different vehicle....and I find other guns here and there but mostly they were in police vehicles or military vehicles because I mostly stick to military and emergency. I am pretty sure I found a handgun in a trash bin. maybe I should test this and spend a few sessions checking the other containers. Best weapon so far was the m4 carbine version what is it called???? find the civilian m16 here and there but mostly geniric 9mm pistol and shotguns oh and an FN pistol. Ok gonna go look in dumpsters now

I've got many "decent" items while scavenging military vehicles, police cars and ambulances (in map 1). Several automatic guns, army and S.W.A.T gear (pants, boots, helmet, backpacks etc), caffeine pills, (good) healing items, grenades, personal mines... etc.

I don´t scavenge anymore, however. It´s but a waste of SP.

I found stimpacks, bloodpacks and energetic drinks on gaebage bins and piles of junk, but is so ap consuming that isn't worth it, whoever when u found 3 leather jackets in lvl 3 I get rich! xD, so it depends on the luck
