I personally loved the original Dead Rising and is very excited about Dead Rising 2 which reminds me to preorder it now :-)

Though the save features and fast paced realtime gameplay imo had some difficulties in the original, the story, the sandbox system and the vast amount of ridiculous ways you could kill the zombies made an overall awesome game.

I also really like the concept of large hordes of slow moving living dead rather than the newer "fast zombie" or "boss" concepts. As you know we have also decided to go for this "George Romero" approach in portraying the zombies in Zombie Pandemic too.

They might break into a run with no warning just like in the first one. I'll have to watch some more of the trailers to see.

Na Sick I'm afraid I think you are wrong there. Dead Rising was a great game and is still a lot of fun to play it today (I do on and off but mostly just to get the achievments). Have you played the original yet? It is well worth a few play throughs if you haven't.

I'd say it is a lot more story driven than you might expect but that it works well with the game and doesn't hinder the gameplay. Now adding running zombies would destroy it, the controls, although ok for the current style of gameplay, wouldn't work well with fast-paced zombie killing action and there wouldn't be enough time to enjoy all the 'weapons' the game is famous for.

What I'd suggest is picking up a copy of Dead Rising for when you want to do some relaxed zombie beat downs and also pick up Left 4 Dead 2 for when you want some manic zombie face blasting.

It would be quite cool though to see slow zombies in L4D2, they could do it in one of the mutations, just have a constant stream of shufflers coming at you for the entire campgain....hmmm I may email them that idea.

divide the classifications of zombies... Sprinters are zombies who run to the survivor and attack but walks when no survivors...etc.

I am definitely getting the game. I just love what rediculous things you can do the zombies (Umbrella battering ram?), and then the storyline turns around and tries to make the entire situation serious. It's fantastic.

As to the zombie archetype discussion, I do not really like the Romero-type zombies. I mean, if you think about it, if you had even a pocket 9mm, would they really be a threat at all? You can practically run around them like fenceposts, and you just need to take the second to aim and land a headshot to kill one.

I also don't like the L4D "boss" zombies. I don't care how big, strong, or fast you are, you don't take hundreds of rounds and live.

If I were to make my own zombie, it'd have the capability to run, but not the full-on adrenaline-rush run like 28DL. No headshot-only. Only transmitted through body fluids. 24 hr. full set-in. For me, that would be the zombie that could *actually* take down societies, but something you could say you could fight and have a chance of surviving.

sprinters are still way better than those lame dead rising zombies

I'm sorry, I can't understand most of what you said, but ill just go with what I think you said.

Boring eh? Well, if you don't think a screen that can hold up to 8,000 zombies in one shot, all for you to think of which way to cut them in half to get to an exciting battle with a fat guy and his pet Tiger, you obviously have no taste.
    Shhh...my common sense is tingling.

I recently started playing Dead Rising 2 and concerning the speed of the zombies, I understand that as you progress through the game the zombies get harder and faster, so there is no reason to worry about the dificulty.
And, to be honest, they do grab me from time to time.
The only bad part about this game is that you have a limited total game time and that reduces my time to explore the game. I would really love to go and try all the zombie killing methods for a day or two. I would really love a more non-linear zombie survival game.

I disagree about some of what you said about saying "zombies that sprinting is hard" In l4d or any movie that makes the zombies sprint at you but more than likely can kill them in one shot which makes them easy.
If you see i large hard of zombies and they are the slow kind, more than likely it will be a challenge in some games. DeadRising 2 was disappointing i loved the first one way better since the first one had more memorable bosses, more zombies in a screen and it had Infinity mode which was made for killing zombies and do what ever you want and none of that was in DeadRising 2.
